These curricula are designed for students with no or limited previous art experience, and it will allow them to be exposed to various forms of visual arts. Through 5 different concentrations, or genres, (Fine Art, Digital Media, Photography & Film,Fashion, and Architecture), students will discover their true interests and artistic talent in specific art fields when they pursue their BFA degree in the future. Through this program, students will attain the necessary fundamental art skills and basic knowledge to discover their creativity and artistic abilities as they work in a wide range of two-and three dimensional art media. This curriculum provides enrichment opportunities in visual, performing and communication arts for young adults and adult students by fostering exploration and guiding them to think creatively and work collaboratively. For those who did not meet the basic requirement to start preparing portfolios for further studies in college and university degree programs, this program can also serve as a prerequisite to build their artistic foundation before moving into the Intermediate Visual Art Program and/or Advanced Portfolio curriculum.The student’s level assignment is determined based on studio level test given at P.I. Art Center at the beginning of each semester.

A strong communicative approach in a highly interactive classroom setting in which students use the materials and equipment available in the classroom in ways of their choosing.The teacher first instructs the concept and then observes and communicates with each student while students are exploring, and the teacher then provides guidance as needed, using information gathered from assessment. For example,the teacher may pose a question, prompt deeper thinking, or introduce new vocabulary.

Most of the work for this curriculum is practical or studio based, so that students can develop their abilities of observation and analysis of the visual world, sensitivity, skill,personal expression and imagination. They also learn how to relate their skills to an enhanced knowledge of their own cultures, past and present, as well as an appreciation of practical design problems.
